Dr. Scott J. Powell, M.D.

Scott J. Powell, M.D. is a Board Certified general surgeon. He obtained his medical doctorate from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. He completed his residency at the University of Florida, Jacksonville, FL in 2003. Since that time he has been in group and private practice near Tyler, Texas. He has now pursued an interest in venous disorders, and looks forward to advancing the treatment of venous disease in the clinical setting.
 

Michael Slaughter, FNP-BC, MSN

Michael Slaughter received his Master’s Degree in Nursing in 2008 and has been working for Vein Centers of Texas as a Nurse Practitioner since November of 2010. Before becoming a Nurse Practitioner, Michael worked as an RN at Methodist Hospital in Dallas for over eight years, working primarily with cardiac, vascular, and weight loss surgery patients. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from TWU in 2002. His experience also includes almost eight years of laboratory research for Texas A & M and UT Southwestern, where he performed analysis on embryonic brain cell development. He earned a Bacholor’s Degree in Biology from Austin College in Sherman, Texas in 1994. A lifelong Texas resident, Michael enjoys travel, fishing, and spending time with his wife/best friend of 15 years.
